Discussion of various topics relating to improving your life; whether it is nutrition needs that need to be altered to accomplish the dream of better living or tips that will improve your appreciation of life, I'm just amazed at what can be accomplished when people put their egos aside and come together to help one another. Control and dignity-more valuable than all the riches in the world
The death of Don Cornelius has saddened me tremendously. His legacy will always be that he crossed racial barriers and brought people together. Music has a universality that makes many forget about prejudices and just live in the music moment.
It's inexplicable to me that someone who brought such joy to so many felt so hopeless that he didn't want to live to see another day, let alone live to see what he could accomplish next.
Of course the rumors are running rampant about the reasons he may have taken his life such as early onset dementia and his failing health.
He had recently finalized a divorce as well. No one will ever know for sure the reason he decided to end his life unless he left a letter of some sort.
His stature was strong and imposing in addition to his booming voice. Someone who is used to being in control suddenly facing a life where he would continue to lose control as disease took over his body. He might have wanted to do something that he felt would give him a way to leave the world under some semblance of control.
Dignity, a priceless possession that takes on gargantuan dimensions when it is put in jeopardy. The loss of control-in light of knowing that inevitably, this will be a reality in your life and there is nothing you can do about it can drive people to do the unimaginable. There's no telling what someone will do to maintain control and dignity in their life.
And with that I will wish you eternal peace, love and soul Don Cornelius. You will be missed.
