Discussion of various topics relating to improving your life; whether it is nutrition needs that need to be altered to accomplish the dream of better living or tips that will improve your appreciation of life, I'm just amazed at what can be accomplished when people put their egos aside and come together to help one another. Possibilities are so exciting! So is hope!

Control and dignity-more valuable than all the riches in the world
The death of Don Cornelius has saddened me tremendously. His legacy will always be that he crossed racial barriers and brought people together. Music has a universality that makes many forget about prejudices and just live in the music moment.
It's inexplicable to me that someone who brought such joy to so many felt so hopeless that he didn't want to live to see another day, let alone live to see what he could accomplish next.
Of course the rumors are running rampant about the reasons he may have taken his life such as early onset dementia and his failing health.
He had recently finalized a divorce as well. No one will ever know for sure the reason he decided to end his life unless he left a letter of some sort.
His stature was strong and imposing in addition to his booming voice. Someone who is used to being in control suddenly facing a life where he would continue to lose control as disease took over his body. He might have wanted to do something that he felt would give him a way to leave the world under some semblance of control.
Dignity, a priceless possession that takes on gargantuan dimensions when it is put in jeopardy. The loss of control-in light of knowing that inevitably, this will be a reality in your life and there is nothing you can do about it can drive people to do the unimaginable. There's no telling what someone will do to maintain control and dignity in their life.
And with that I will wish you eternal peace, love and soul Don Cornelius. You will be missed.

Is it really in the palm of my hand?
Have you ever had the feeling that you were so close to your goal, that it was truly within your grasp, if only...
YOU COULD GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY?!
Ugh, that's how I'm feeling lately. I just have a couple more hurdles to jump over and that's it. I will be finished. I will have technically completed the requirements for my SECOND masters degree. This time in communication.
I feel like this one is really going to count for something. I feel like this degree won't be a waste of my time. I feel like this one is the one that will get me close to my dream of building a platform to inform people about truly living younger, longer and prettier.
But...these last projects are really starting to get to me. I've got to get through these last two weeks in order to get to the next level.
Now, I'm realistic enough to know that I won't be finding the perfect job upon graduation but, this waiting game...this waiting on the economy to get better and people being so negative saying that there aren't any jobs is really starting to wear me down.
I refuse to accept that after all the time, effort, the working for free doing an internship (even though I learned a tremendous amount), the school projects, the team work, paper after paper, article after article and piece by piece, that I'm going to end up in the same place I started...without a job, let alone a job I can grow into and learn from. I refuse to accept this.
So, now that I've gotten all that negativity off of my chest and out of my head, it's onward and upward. I'm releasing that negativity and looking forward...POSITIVELY!
Thanks for letting me vent!
Next post...GOOD NEWS! I know it's coming!
